Costa Maya is one of the easiest ports to enjoy whether you book an excursion or not. The cruise port itself offers shopping, restaurants, cultural demonstrations, swimming lagoons, and even flamingos on some days. If you're looking to relax, explore, or simply wander at your own pace, you can easily spend several enjoyable hours without ever leaving the port.

Roatán is a smaller, more laid-back port than Costa Maya. You'll find a few shops, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and a pool area right at the port, but most visitors head out to enjoy the island's beautiful beaches and world-famous snorkeling. While the culture isn't as prominent as our other ports, many sightseeing tours include stories about the island's history and local way of life.

Cozumel is one of the easiest ports to explore on your own. The cruise pier opens directly onto the island's main tourist strip, where you'll find an abundance of shops, restaurants, bars, and local entertainment. Don't be afraid to venture a little farther down the street beyond the busiest area to discover family-owned shops and local vendors.

One thing that makes Cozumel unique is that there are two cruise ports, connected by the same lively waterfront strip. Whether you're shopping for souvenirs, enjoying authentic Mexican food, or simply taking in the atmosphere, it's easy to spend the day exploring at your own pace.

There is so much to see and do in Cozumel that it's hard to make a bad choice!

A note about mainland excursions: Many of the archaeological and cultural excursions depart Cozumel by ferry to mainland Mexico. These are excellent experiences and absolutely worth considering if they're on your bucket list. Just keep in mind that they're typically full-day excursions, so you'll likely travel directly from the ship to the ferry and back again, leaving little or no extra time to explore Cozumel itself.
