Can people still join?
Absolutely! As of May 27th there are still cabins available in different categories. However, full payment is required at the time of booking since we are within 90 days of sailing.
Do I need a passport?
No! Because this is a closed-loop cruise and only going to Mexico/Honduras, you can sail with an original copy of your birth certificate and a REAL ID. If your ID does not match your birth certificate, you'll need a marriage license to show your name change.
Is travel insurance recommended?
Always! We can get a great rate for the whole group, usually around $25 per person. Be on the lookout for this information in June.
Are gratuities included?
No. Automatic gratuities for your cabin and dining room staff are charged to your onboard account at $18.50 per person, per day. This does not include gratuities for any additional expense onboard, such as drinks, speciality restaurants, or room service, which are charged at the time of purchase.
What IS included?
Your cruise fare includes your cabin, main dining room, buffet, basic beverages (no sodas), limited room service, plus all entertainment and shows.
What costs extra onboard?
While you can enjoy your cruise without spending anything extra, there are additional opportunities to enhance your experience. Specialty dining, sodas, bottled water, specialty coffee, and alcoholic drinks cost extra. There is also an escape room, spa, casino, photos, and wi-fi available for additional costs.
Do I need cash onboard?
If you want to bring cash for your onboard spending you'll set it up at the terminal prior to boarding. Cash can also be used in the casino or for tipping the staff.
Can I use gift cards or onboard credit?
Yes! You can use both for either pre-cruise or onboard spending.
When is online check-in?
Check-in opens 45 days ahead of sailing, for us, that is July 9th. This is when you'll select your terminal arrival time and receive luggage tags and your boarding pass.
How do luggage tage work?
You'll print these and place them on your bags. When you arrive at the terminal, porters will take your luggage to be loaded on the ship.
How much luggage can I bring?
1-2 bags/suitcases per person is recommended by Royal for checked luggage. You can carry on what you can comfortably handle.
What should go in my carry-on?
ALL DOCUMENTS should remain in your possession at all times during boarding. This includes passports, birth certificates, and IDs. Your checked luggage may not arrive at your cabin until later in the evening, so it is usually a good idea to keep anything like medications, etc., that you may need throughout the day with you in your carry-on.
What is a SeaPass account?
A SeaPass account is Royal Caribbean’s cashless payment system used for all onboard purchases and services, which can be linked to a credit card, debit card, or cash during check-in. The account allows you to track spending in the Royal app and see the daily authorization holds placed on your card (or your cash account balance).
Are formal nights required?
No, but this group loves to dress to impress! The consensus is to participate, but don't feel obligated if you're not up for it.
Can I wear shorts to dinner?
Can you? Probably. Should you? No.
Royal has a dress code for the main dining room that respectfully asks that you don't.
How does the app work?
The Royal Caribbean app is ranked in the top of all cruise line apps! It is the hub for your pre-cruise information, check-in, boarding passes, and once onboard - all activites and account information.
*If you have not sailed with Royal or used the app, I will assist you in setting this up.
Is the app required?
No, but it does make your experience much smoother and enjoyable.
What about power in the cabins?
Most cabins have three American outlets and two USB ports near the room vanity.
Is wi-fi included?
No, it is not included. You can purchase the wi-fi package for an additional fee both pre-cruise or once onboard.
Are drinks included?
Some are, yes! Water, tea, lemonade, and regular coffee are available at various locations throughout the ship.
Can I bring drinks onboard?
Yes! You are allowed 12 (up to 17oz) non-alcoholic drinks per cabin and must bring them in your carry-on. Cans, bottles, and cartons (think Premier Protein drink cartons) are allowed.
Can I bring alcohol onboard?
Yes! You are allowed one 750mL bottle of wine or champagne per person over age 21. This must be carried on the ship with you.
*Beware, there is a corkage fee if you need it opened for you, or if you take your bottle to the Main Dining Room. Pour a glass in your room and take it with you instead.
Is room service included?
Some is, yes! There will be a menu in your cabin with all available offerings. Breakfast is free from a limited menu, with additional offerings for breakfast and other meals for a small fee.
How do dining reservations work?
Our group's dining time is a set time of 5:30 each evening in the Main Dining Room. We will have assigned tables with the same wait staff each night.
How soon should I book excursions?
As soon as you're sure about what you'd like to do. Popular excursions can fill up quickly, especially if you're looking to go as a group.
Is it safe to explore ports independently?
Absolutely! Mexico, and especially Honduras, take tourism very seriously as it is the lifeline of the local economy, and have strict punishments for crimes against tourists. Venturing off depends on your own comfort level. Just remember, if you are not with a Royal-booked excursion, it is YOUR responsibility to get back to the ship on time, as they will not wait for you.
Do I need cash in port?
As they say, cash is king. Bartering is easier with paper, not plastic. Also, with the conversion rates, you may end up at a price you weren't expecting to be charged to your card. The US denomination is accepted at all the ports we're visiting.
Can I stay onboard on port days?
Absolutely! Many folks choose to stay behind and enjoy the peace around the ship. Just be aware that many things (including the casino) are not open while at port.
What happens if we miss the ship?
Other than stressing out your family, you'll have the option to return home or meet at the next port. Your belongings are left with the port authorities for you to retrieve and make your way to your next destination.
*Note that the cost of the additional travel is your responsibility.
*Exception: If you are on an excursion booked through Royal, the ship will wait for your excursion group to return.
